The Illinois diving team continued their participation in the Auburn Diving Invite on December 18, 2023, at the James E. Martin Aquatic Center. The focus of Monday's competition was the three-meter boards. The team is set to conclude their involvement with platform diving on Tuesday.
Freshman Matilda Garcia stood out among her teammates, securing sixth place in the three-meter finals with a score of 256.50 points. Joining her in the finals were senior twins Brooke and Taylor Michael. Brooke finished eighth with 238.65 points, while Taylor secured ninth place with 236.25 points.
In the preliminary round, three freshmen competed: Bethany Mercer ranked 13th with 205.85 points, Elleka Boeres came in 14th with a score of 204.25, and Elle Crisostomo placed 15th with a total of 182.55 points.
The results for Illinois divers are as follows:
- Matilda Garcia: Finals - Sixth (256.50), Prelims - (224.00)
- Brooke Michael: Finals - Eighth (238.65), Prelims - (227.10)
- Taylor Michael: Finals - Ninth (236.25), Prelims - (244.75)
- Bethany Mercer: Prelims - Thirteenth (205.85)
- Elleka Boeres: Prelims - Fourteenth (204.25)
- Elle Crisostomo: Prelims - Fifteenth (182.55)
The Illini divers will return to action for the final day of competition on December 19 at 11 a.m., participating in platform diving.
