Fighting Illini women's tennis prepares for fall competitions at Baylor and ITA events

Fall competition is set to begin for the Fighting Illini women's tennis team as they prepare for two significant events: the H-E-B Invite and the ITA All-American Championships. The team will split, with Kida Ferrari, Ariel Madatali, Violeta Martinez, and Rosie Seccia heading to Waco, Texas for the H-E-B Invite from September 20-22. Meanwhile, Megan Heuser, McKenna Schaefbauer, Kasia Treiber, and Alice Xu will participate in the ITA All-American Championships from September 21-29.

The ITA All-American Championships will commence with Pre-Qualifying Singles on September 21. Heuser, Schaefbauer, and Treiber are scheduled to compete in this category. Additionally, Schaefbauer and Treiber will play in Pre-Qualifying Doubles starting on the same day. Main Draw Doubles action featuring Heuser and Xu is set to begin on September 25. Associate head coach Jacob Eddins will accompany players attending the ITA event while head coach Evan Clark travels with those competing at the H-E-B Invite.

Both tournaments mark Illinois women's tennis team's first collegiate competition of the fall season. Newcomer Ariel Madatali is anticipated to make her debut in Waco.

The H-E-B Invitational at Baylor starts Friday with doubles matches at 9 a.m., followed by singles at 10 a.m., concluding with another round of doubles at 1:30 p.m. Saturday's schedule mirrors Friday's format. The tournament concludes Sunday morning with doubles play leading into a final round of singles matches.

In case of bad weather conditions, games may be relocated indoors to Hawkins Indoor Tennis Center. Teams from Baylor, Denver, Illinois, Lamar University Missouri Nebraska SMU Tennessee will compete in Waco.

At Cary N.C., during ITA All-American Championships singles matches adhere best-two-out-of-three sets using no-ad scoring rules; main-draw doubles consist two sets plus ten-point tiebreak instead third set employing no-ad scoring method too.
