Illinois has secured the commitment of Canadian basketball prospect Will Riley, as announced by head coach Brad Underwood. Riley, originally a member of the Class of 2025, plans to reclassify and join the Fighting Illini for the upcoming season.

Standing at 6-foot-8 and weighing 180 pounds, Riley is from Kitchener, Ontario. He attended The Phelps School in Malvern, Pennsylvania. His performance in recent tournaments elevated his standing to one of the top 10 players in his class.

Riley is highly regarded among Canadian prospects and ranks No. 9 overall according to 247Sports, No. 10 by On3, and No. 11 by Rivals for the Class of 2025. This makes him Illinois' highest-ranked recruit since Dee Brown from the Class of 2002.

Underwood expressed enthusiasm about Riley joining the team: "It's exciting to add a supremely talented player in Will Riley to our program. He is the consummate positionless basketball player who has all the tools offensively," said Underwood. "Obviously Orlando (Antigua) was instrumental with his relationships and did an excellent job leading this recruitment."

During his time on the EYBL circuit, Riley averaged impressive statistics with UPlay Canada: 21.9 points, 4.7 rebounds, and 2.5 assists per game. He also achieved recognition as Offensive MVP during the EYBL Indy Session after scoring significantly against Team Durant.

At The Phelps School over two years, Riley maintained an average of 26.5 points per game last season while helping lead his team to a runner-up finish in their tournament league.

Additionally notable was his performance at Basketball Without Borders Global Camp during NBA All-Star Weekend where he earned MVP honors.
