Illinois has secured the No. 2 seed in the 2024 Big Ten Tournament. The team, known as the Fighting Illini, will commence their tournament play at the Target Center in Minneapolis during the Quarterfinals on Friday at 5:30 p.m. CT on BTN. They are set to face off against either No. 7 Iowa or No. 10 Ohio State.
The Illini have achieved a top-2 seed for the third time in four years under head coach Brad Underwood and have earned a double-bye for the fourth time in five years after finishing as league runner-up with a record of 14-6. This marks the third occasion in four years that Illinois has won at least 14 conference games. Underwood's leadership is notable as he now holds three of the top five winningest Big Ten seasons in school history, along with four of the top eight, including the top two.
With an overall record of 23-8, Illinois has accumulated its most regular-season wins since the 2008-09 season. The Illini are among only four teams nationally to achieve a regular season with at least 20 wins each year over the last five years, alongside Baylor, Houston, and San Diego State.
