Gymnast Brandon Dang wins Big Ten Specialist of the Week award

Illinois men's gymnast Brandon Dang has been recognized for his impressive performance at the 2024 EVO Elite Collegiate Open. Competing against teams like Simpson, Georgia United, and Florida Alliance, as well as members of the U.S. National Team aiming for the 2024 Paris Olympics, Dang helped secure a 3-0 record for the No. 5-ranked Fighting Illini.

Dang achieved a score of 14.950 on the pommel horse, marking the fourth-highest score in this event so far this season. His performance earned him the Big Ten Specialist of the Week award for the first time in his college career.

Brandon Dang is a freshman from San Jose, California. He is pursuing an electrical engineering major at Illinois and maintains a GPA of 3.49.
