Tate Costa wins high bar title at NCAA Championships

The NCAA Championships saw Fighting Illini men's gymnastics sophomore Tate Costa securing first place in the high bar competition at the Covelli Center in Columbus, Ohio. The team also finished fifth overall with a score of 411.659 and produced six All-Americans: Connor McCool on floor, Brandon Dang on pommel horse, Ashton Anaya on still rings, Sebastian Ingersoll on high bar, and Costa in both all-around and high bar.

Head coach Daniel Ribeiro expressed his pride in the team's performance, stating, "These guys left their hearts out on the floor tonight. I could not be more proud of what these guys accomplished this season. They dealt with injuries and adversity, and they handled all of it like champions. I will be talking about this team for years to come!"

In individual events, Anaya secured fourth place on still rings with a score of 14.166. Garrett Schooley was the top scorer for Illinois on vault with 14.566 points. Michael Fletcher led the team on parallel bars with a score of 14.100.

Costa's victory in high bar came with a score of 13.900, while Ingersoll finished sixth in the same event with a score of 13.600. On floor exercise, McCool achieved third place by scoring 14.466 points.

Brandon Dang excelled on pommel horse, achieving fourth place with a score of 14.500.
