Illinois baseball is set to host SIUE in a midweek contest as part of their ongoing nine-game homestand. The game will take place at Illinois Field, with the first pitch scheduled for 6 p.m. CT.

The Illini are on a four-game winning streak, having recently swept Northern Illinois over the weekend. During that series, they outscored their opponents 52-21 and hit 15 home runs. Left-handed pitcher Sam Reed (1-1, 10.18 ERA) will start for Illinois against SIUE's left-hander Garrett Helsel (0-2, 8.79 ERA).

Historically, Illinois leads the series against SIUE with a record of 6-1 and has won five consecutive games against them since 1984. Their last meeting resulted in a 7-6 victory for Illinois in extra innings on April 1, 2009.

SIUE enters the matchup with a season record of 13-23 after losing two out of three games to Eastern Illinois in their recent series. Outfielder Lucas Spence is a standout player for SIUE with a .401 batting average.

Illinois had an impressive performance over the weekend against Northern Illinois, with players like Cameron Chee-Aloy leading the team offensively by going 6-for-9 with seven runs scored. Jacob Schroeder and Drake Westcott also contributed significantly by hitting multiple home runs.

The upcoming game can be streamed on B1G+, and Scott Beatty will provide commentary on WDWS AM-1400.

Illinois will continue its homestand with a Big Ten series against Northwestern following the game against SIUE.
