Illinois baseball achieved a clean sweep in a non-conference home series against Northern Illinois last weekend. The team won with scores of 15-5, 16-5, and 21-11. Key contributions came from Jacob Schroeder, Drake Westcott, and Ryan Moerman, who collectively accounted for over half of the team's scoring. They combined for 21 hits out of 37 at-bats, including ten home runs, two doubles, 28 RBIs, and scored 22 runs.
Ryan Moerman had his second multi-homer game this season on Saturday and hit his first grand slam of the year. Their efforts helped the Illini achieve a season-high eight home runs in one game—one short of the program's single-game record set in 1999. Sunday's victory marked the first time since 2015 that Illinois scored at least 20 runs in a game.
