No. 5 Illinois men's gymnastics team secured a victory over No. 3 Michigan with a score of 413.800 to 410.350 on February 3 at Huff Hall, achieving their highest team score of the season. Sophomore Tate Costa delivered an outstanding performance, setting personal records in four events: floor (14.300), still rings (13.300), parallel bars (13.750), and high bar (14.300). These efforts earned him podium finishes in both the high bar and floor exercise.
Costa's achievements were recognized as he received his first Big Ten Gymnast of the Week award. The gymnast from Narragansett, Rhode Island, is majoring in statistics at Illinois and maintains a GPA of 3.71.
