Fighting Illini men's gymnastics freshman Brandon Dang secured a bronze medal at the 2024 Winter Cup, held at the Kentucky International Convention Center in Louisville. The competition spanned two days, with athletes required to qualify for the second day. Scores from both days were averaged to determine medalists.

Dang excelled as a pommel horse specialist, achieving scores of 14.200 on the first day and 14.850 on the second day. Other participants included McCool, who competed in floor and vault events with scores of 12.950 and 12.500 respectively, and Costa, who participated in all-around events but did not advance to the second day.

Former Illini gymnast Alex Diab performed outstandingly on still rings, scoring consistently high with 14.750 on both days to clinch the gold medal.

Following a two-week break, the Illini team is set to compete against William & Mary/Simpson this Friday at Huff Hall for Ninja Warrior Night.
