Fighting Illini soccer will face No. 12 Wisconsin and Purdue at Demirjian Park in a two-match homestand this week. Illinois, with a record of 5-5-3 overall and 1-3-2 in the Big Ten, is set to play Wisconsin on Thursday at 7 p.m. CT and Purdue on Sunday at 1 p.m. CT.

The season marks the 27th for Illinois soccer, led by head coach Janet Rayfield for the past 22 seasons. Admission to all home matches is free, with parking available near the venue.

On Thursday against Wisconsin, promotions include "Illini Hour" with drink specials and "Kick Cancer," where fans can tie ribbons in honor of those affected by cancer. Sunday's match against Purdue features "Socctober Fest," offering an Illini beer mug to the first 300 fans.

Illinois recently lost to Minnesota, despite Kennedy Berschel scoring early in the match. The team hopes to improve its standing as it trails Wisconsin historically but leads against Purdue.

Wisconsin has a strong season record of 9-2-3 and recently moved up to No. 12 in rankings after wins over Purdue and Northwestern. Key players include Mary Monticello, Emma Jaskaniec, and Aryssa Mahrt.

Purdue stands at 3-10-1 this season, struggling within the Big Ten with no conference wins yet. Their key players are Emily Mathews, Kayla Budish, and Gracie Dunaway.

For Illinois, Sydney Stephens leads with four goals this season while goalkeeper Julia Cili boasts an impressive save percentage. Newcomers Mya Archibald and Sophia Wampler bring international experience to the team.

Looking ahead, Illinois will conclude their regular season facing Michigan State on October 19 and Nebraska on October 22.
