Graduate student Mia Takekawa has been recognized as the Big Ten co-Gymnast of the Week following her outstanding performance against Michigan State. Takekawa, representing Illinois, achieved a score of 9.95 on the beam during Friday's competition, securing a win in that category.
In addition to her success on the beam, Takekawa scored 9.875 on bars, earning a tie for second place. This accolade marks her sixth career Big Ten award and fourth Gymnast of the Week honor. The last time she received this recognition was on March 14, 2022.
Takekawa is pursuing a master's degree in engineering and hails from Sacramento, California.
