Fighting Illini women's basketball team has announced the appointment of Zachary Choo as the assistant director of scouting and video. Head coach Shauna Green expressed enthusiasm about Choo joining the team, highlighting his previous experience with her at Dayton.
"I am so excited to have Zach join our famILLy," said Green. "Zach is someone that has worked with us before at Dayton and he will make an immediate impact on our program. His work ethic is elite and his experience in the big ten will be beneficial. He will be able to assist myself and our staff in a variety of areas with his experience."
Choo, who spent three seasons at Wisconsin, shared his excitement about reuniting with Coach Green. "I'm thrilled to join the Illinois staff and grateful for the opportunity to reunite with Coach Green," he stated. "She is a proven winner and an exceptional leader, dedicated to the development of her players both on and off the court. I'm excited to be a part of the famILLy and can't wait to work together to build something special."
During his tenure at Wisconsin, Choo served as the women's basketball video coordinator starting in May 2022. His responsibilities included coding and breaking down practice and game film, opponent scouting, collaborating on self-scouting efforts, analyzing Synergy SportsTech clips, managing video playbooks via JustPlay, and contributing to recruiting efforts through graphics creation.
Before Wisconsin, Choo was a graduate assistant at Dayton during the 2021-22 season. He also spent three years as a student manager with Dayton's Flyers where he worked closely with several current Illinois staff members including Shauna Green.
Choo graduated from Dayton in 2021 with a degree in sport management and a minor in business administration. He co-founded CommittedGraphix during his undergraduate studies.
