Illinois athletics has released the promotional schedule for the 2024 Fighting Illini soccer season. The team will begin its home games on Thursday against Wright State at 7 p.m. CT at Demirjian Park.
Admission to all Illinois soccer home matches is free, with parking available in the Atkins Tennis Center parking lot and nearby grass lots.
The promotional schedule includes various themed events throughout the season:
- On August 15, Illinois soccer will have its Home Opener against Wright State.
- A Senior Celebration will take place on August 18 before the game against DePaul to honor seniors.
- The match on August 22 against Missouri is designated as Kick Stigma, focusing on mental health awareness and fundraising.
- Back to School activities are planned for August 25 when Illinois faces Illinois State, including pre-match inflatables and food trucks, followed by postmatch autographs.
- Youth Sports Day and Graduate Student Night will occur during the game against Kentucky on August 31.
- Big Ten play begins with a B1G Opener against Minnesota on September 12, featuring an MVP Most Valuable Professor ceremony at halftime.
- Women's Empowerment day is scheduled for September 22 versus Iowa, with a scrimmage called "100 Girls vs. Illini Soccer" after the match.
- The annual Kick Cancer promotion takes place on October 10 during the game against USC, where fans receive colored ribbons supporting different cancer types.
- Alumni Match and Hispanic Heritage Night coincide with Illinois' Hall of Fame Weekend during their match against UCLA on October 13.
These events aim to engage fans and support various causes throughout the soccer season.
