Big Ten Network is set to premiere a documentary titled "A House of Brick: 100 Years of Memorial Stadium" on Monday at 9:30 p.m. CT. The film, narrated by Illinois alumnus Ryan Baker, covers the history and significance of Memorial Stadium at the University of Illinois.
The university is celebrating the centennial anniversary of Memorial Stadium's dedication throughout the year. The original Dedication Game took place on October 18, 1924, against Michigan, where Illini icon Red Grange made headlines by scoring four touchdowns in just 12 minutes. This Saturday's game against Michigan will occur exactly one century and one day after that memorable event.
Illinois has prepared extensive plans for a Rededication weekend from Thursday, October 17 to Saturday, October 19. More details can be found on their official schedule.
To honor Memorial Stadium's history during the season, several activities are planned for game days. These include a free pop-up museum in the Great West Hall, special logos painted on the field, and commemorative cups available at concessions.
Tickets for Saturday's sold-out game against Michigan are still available through SeatGeek.com, Illinois Athletics' official ticket marketplace.
The documentary will air multiple times on Big Ten Network and WCIA throughout the week.
