Illinois quarterback Luke Altmyer has been recognized for his outstanding performance in the recent game against Purdue. He was named to both the Davey O'Brien Award's Great 8 and the Manning Award's Stars of the Week lists. This marks the second time this season that Altmyer has appeared on these lists, having previously been acknowledged after Illinois' victory over Nebraska.

Altmyer played a crucial role in leading then-#23 Illinois to a narrow 50-49 overtime win against Purdue. He achieved a career-high with 379 passing yards and added another 60 yards rushing, totaling 439 yards of offense. His contributions included one rushing touchdown and three passing touchdowns, with a decisive 25-yard pass to Pat Bryant during overtime securing the victory.

This victory marked Altmyer's fourth game-winning drive in his career with Illinois and his second this season following an overtime win against Nebraska.

As a result of their recent success, Illinois moved up to #22 in the AP Top 25 rankings. They are set to face #24 Michigan on Saturday at Memorial Stadium at 2:30 p.m. CT, with coverage on CBS. The upcoming game coincides with Memorial Stadium's 100th Anniversary Rededication Game, taking place almost exactly one century after its original dedication on October 18, 1924.
