The loss brought Illinois to an 8-3 record for the season and 0-1 in league play. Meanwhile, Oregon achieved its first-ever Big Ten victory, improving to 9-1 for the year.

The game began with both teams matching each other point-for-point until a Lily Barry ace tied the set at 11. The Ducks extended their lead further, and although Illinois resisted four set points, they eventually lost the first frame 25-21.

In the second set, Laynie Smith and Raina Terry delivered four consecutive kills to level the score at 12. Terry's strong service performance helped Illinois pull ahead with a six-point run, leading 19-15. Yet Oregon managed to tie it at 20 before taking control again to win the set 25-22.

Oregon maintained momentum into the third set, establishing an early lead of 7-1. Despite some efforts from Illinois with Mosher serving, they could not overcome their deficit and ultimately fell short in the final set, losing it by a score of 25-13.
