Illinois volleyball is set to face Northwestern in a Big Ten matchup at Huff Hall on October 6. The Illini, currently holding an 8-5 record, will play against the Wildcats, who stand at 3-7 overall and 1-1 in conference play. The match is scheduled for a 1 p.m. start and will be available on B1G+.

This season marks the 51st year of Illinois volleyball, with head coach Chris Tamas leading the team for his eighth season. Under his guidance, the team has achieved a record of 139-86. Recently, Illinois faced No. 2 Nebraska but fell in straight sets despite Raina Terry's standout performance with her third double-double of the year.

Raina Terry continues to make significant contributions to the team as she enters her final season. She ranks second in the Big Ten with 210.5 points and has been named MVP twice during this year's tournaments. Terry holds records for career aces and kills at Illinois.

Caroline Barnes is approaching a milestone with nearly 1,000 career digs, while Brooke Mosher recently achieved a triple-double against Wake Forest—an accomplishment not seen since Betsy Spicer's performance in 1998.

The Illini have had a strong non-conference showing this season with an undefeated road record and notable wins over teams like Bowling Green and Iowa State. They also hosted their fifth-largest home crowd during their recent match against Nebraska.

Northwestern's squad is led by middle blocker Kennedy Hill and is coached by Tim Dollan in his first year. Historically, Illinois leads their series against Northwestern with a record of 65-32.

In preparation for this season, Illinois added eight newcomers to their roster after losing six players from last year's team. This includes four freshmen and four transfer students who are expected to contribute significantly throughout the season.

Former Illini player Jordyn Poulter represented Team USA at the Paris Olympics this summer, marking her second Olympic appearance after winning gold in Tokyo.

As they continue through their schedule, Raina Terry was named to the Big Ten Preseason Team for her outstanding performance last year when she led the conference in total points.
