Illinois 4-H recently honored 53 volunteers for their dedication to the youth development program, inducting them into the Illinois 4-H Hall of Fame. These individuals were recognized for their significant contributions to the University of Illinois Extension 4-H program and were nominated by county staff.
Patricia McGlaughlin, a University of Illinois Extension 4-H specialist, emphasized the importance of volunteers in the program. “Volunteers are the heart of the Illinois 4-H youth development program, embodying the spirit of dedicated service that nurtures the growth of our future leaders,” she stated. She further acknowledged their role in empowering youth to make positive community impacts.
The honorees included Tom Brookens from Christian County, Cartha Gustafson from Clark County, and Brad Clark from Clay County, among others. Each was celebrated during events aligned with county exhibit days at the 4-H General Project Show and received a commemorative medallion at the Illinois State Fair.
