Zheng leads Illinois women's golf at Windy City Collegiate Classic

Illinois women's golf team finished the first day of the Windy City Collegiate Classic in 13th place, with a total score of 306 (+18). The second round was halted due to darkness, leaving some groups still on the course.

Victoria Zheng led the Illini with an opening round score of 72 (E), including three birdies. She was 1-over through 15 holes in the second round and is currently placed ninth. Zheng aims for her third consecutive top-20 finish and her second top-10 finish.

Yurang Li is tied for 41st after moving up 20 spots on the leaderboard by shooting even-par through 15 holes in her second round. She bounced back from an opening round score of 79 (+7).

Brielle Mapanao ended the day tied for 48th with scores of 74 (+2) and 78 (+6). She recorded three birdies in her opening round and went bogey-free on the front nine.

Lexanne Halama is tied for 70th following rounds of 81 (+9) and 79 (+7). Anna Ritter is tied for 72nd with scores of 82 (+10) and 79 (+7).

Erica Lee, competing as an individual, is tied for 62nd after posting rounds of 80 (+8) and 76 (+4).

Arizona State leads the team standings at 3-over (579), while Southern California's Jasmine Koo holds the individual lead at 9-under (135).

The Fighting Illini will resume play tomorrow, with third-round tee times starting at 7:30 a.m. CT.
