City staff from the City Manager’s Office and the Equity & Engagement Department participated in the 2024 Immigrant Welcome Awards on Sunday, September 22, 2024. The event was hosted by CU Immigration Forum and marked the 11th Annual Immigrant Welcome Awards Ceremony and Celebration.
The ceremony honored individuals and organizations for their contributions to the Champaign-Urbana community. It featured Indian traditional dancing, food, and special guest speakers. A free reception sponsored by the City of Champaign followed the event.
The ceremony highlighted the diversity and richness of the immigrant experience in Champaign-Urbana and emphasized the importance of fostering a welcoming and inclusive environment for all.
