Champaign Fire Department responds to accidental restaurant fire on North Chestnut Street

On September 2, 2025, the Champaign Fire Department responded to a fire at a restaurant located in the 300 block of North Chestnut Street. The incident was reported at 12:54 p.m., and fire crews arrived to find moderate smoke and fire coming from the rear of the building.

Firefighters deployed several hose lines and were able to quickly extinguish the flames before they spread into the main area of the restaurant. According to officials, "The cause of this fire has been determined to be accidental and is attributed to cooking. There were no firefighter or occupant injuries reported."

No injuries were reported among firefighters or occupants as a result of this incident.
