On September 21, 2024, Mayor Deborah Frank Feinen was unanimously elected to serve a one-year term as President of the Illinois Municipal League (IML). Mayor Feinen has served on the IML Board of Directors as a Vice President since 2020 and was elected to this top position during the 111th IML Annual Conference held last weekend in Chicago.

“It is my honor to be elected by my fellow board members to serve as the Illinois Municipal League’s President for the next year,” said Mayor Deborah Frank Feinen. “I am passionate about making positive changes not only for Champaign, but for all the cities, villages, and towns across Illinois. Through my ongoing service with the Illinois Municipal League, I will continue to advocate for local governments that manage a myriad of complex issues so that together we can achieve our shared goal of having a positive and meaningful impact on the lives of those we serve.”

The Illinois Municipal League is the statewide association representing municipalities throughout Illinois. IML has worked continuously for the benefit of all 1,294 cities, villages, and towns in Illinois to provide a formal voice on matters involving common interests.
