Illinois football names six team captains for upcoming season

The Fighting Illini football program has named six captains for the 2024 season: Tanner Arkin, Pat Bryant, Seth Coleman, Josh Kreutz, Dylan Rosiek, and Miles Scott. The captains were chosen through a team vote.

Tight end Tanner Arkin, a junior from Fort Collins, Colorado, is entering his second season with the team after transferring from Colorado State. Last year, he played in all 12 games and made three starts, scoring one touchdown against Wisconsin.

Wide receiver Pat Bryant has been recognized as a preseason All-Big Ten selection by Phil Steele (third team) and Athlon (fourth team). The senior from Jacksonville, Florida recorded catches in all 12 games last season, including seven touchdown receptions.

Outside linebacker Seth Coleman returns for his sixth season with Illinois. The Melbourne, Florida native is a two-time All-Big Ten honorable mention selection and was named to the preseason all-conference teams by both Phil Steele and Athlon. He has accumulated over 130 tackles, 12.5 sacks, and 20.5 tackles for loss during his career.

Offensive lineman Josh Kreutz will anchor the offensive line as the starting center for the second consecutive season. The Bannockburn, Illinois native has played in 28 games and started all 12 contests last year.

Linebacker Dylan Rosiek is on the Dick Butkus Award preseason watch list for top linebackers in the nation. The East Lake, Florida native led the team with 82 total tackles last year and ranked third nationally with four forced fumbles.

Defensive back Miles Scott started all 12 games at safety last season after switching positions from wide receiver. The Dolton, Illinois product was named to the Preseason All-Big Ten fourth team by Athlon after recording 64 tackles and two interceptions last year.
