Illinois women's basketball concludes foreign tour undefeated

PERISTERI, Greece - The Illinois women's basketball team secured a 106-42 victory over Amilla Peristeriou on Friday, concluding their foreign tour games with a perfect record. This win brought the Fighting Illini to 2-0 on the trip and extended head coach Shauna Green's record in foreign tour games to 5-0.

Gretchen Dolan led all scorers with 21 points, shooting 9-for-12 from the field and making three 3-pointers. Kendall Bostic achieved another double-double with 20 points and 12 rebounds, including six offensive boards. Freshman Hayven Smith also recorded a double-double with 12 points and 11 rebounds. Jasmine Brown-Hagger scored 13 points, while Brynn Shoup-Hill added 11 points.

Makira Cook contributed significantly with 10 assists out of Illinois' total of 31 assists, while Cori Allen added six more. The team assisted on 70.5% of their made field goals (31 out of 44).

No player from Illinois played more than 23 minutes during the game.

The starting lineup for Illinois remained consistent with previous games in Italy: Genesis Bryant, Cook, Adalia McKenzie, Shoup-Hill, and Bostic. This unit quickly established an early lead of 18-0 before being substituted around four minutes into the first quarter. By the end of the first quarter, Illinois led by a substantial margin of 29-4.

Illinois' highest scoring quarter was the second, where they posted 34 points to take a commanding lead of 63-20 at halftime. The team went six-for-ten from three-point range during this period.

By the end of three quarters, Illinois held an advantage of 80-32 and finished strong with a final scoreline of 106-42 after adding another twenty-six points in the fourth quarter.

Before their game in Peristeri, Illinois players visited Athens for a walking tour through the Acropolis and its museum. They plan to stay in Athens overnight before spending two nights in Glyfada. Their itinerary includes an island-hopping boat tour and a free day in Glyfada before returning home.
