College basketball fans are set for an exciting matchup as Tennessee and Illinois face off on December 6 at Bridgestone Arena in Nashville. The announcement was made by bdG Sports, a veteran event promoter. The game will be broadcast on ESPN networks, with the tip-off time to be announced later.
Tickets for the event will be available to the public starting Friday, July 18 at 10 a.m. CT through Ticketmaster.
Tennessee enters the upcoming season with high hopes after reaching the Elite Eight in the past two NCAA Tournaments. Head Coach Rick Barnes' team is strengthened by new additions, including top recruit Nate Ament and transfer Ja'Kobi Gillespie. Barnes expressed anticipation for the game against Illinois, saying, "Our program is really looking forward to this matchup with Illinois."
Illinois has also established itself as a formidable team under Coach Brad Underwood, winning multiple Big Ten Tournament titles since 2021. Underwood shared his excitement about facing Tennessee again, stating, "Playing the SEC will prepare us well for the Big Ten race."
This game marks only the sixth meeting between these two schools. Tennessee currently leads the series with four wins out of five encounters.
In addition to this game, bdG Sports is also organizing another matchup between Kentucky and Gonzaga at Bridgestone Arena that weekend.
