U.S. Representative Mary Miller announced a new bill, stating, "This week, I introduced the Defining Male and Female Act, which provides clear legal definitions for 'male' and 'female' so Joe Biden and Kamala Harris cannot rewrite Title IX." She made the statement in a July 31 Facebook post.

"This week, I introduced the Defining Male and Female Act, which provides clear legal definitions for "male" and "female" so Joe Biden and Kamala Harris cannot rewrite Title IX," said Miller, U.S. Representative IL-15, according to Facebook. "We must protect women and girls' safety and opportunities in sports and in the classroom."

In her Facebook post, Miller shared a link to a Daily Caller report on her bill, the "Defining Male and Female Act." According to the article, Miller introduced the bill as a way to push back against the Biden administration’s final Title IX rule, which was set to go into effect on Aug. 1. The Daily Caller reported that Senate Republican state leaders have argued that it does not align with the original statute of Title IX regarding female protections.

"Since Joe Biden and Kamala Harris took office, they have obliterated Title IX, allowing confused and predatory men into women's sports and restrooms," said Miller in a July 31 news release focused on the new bill. "The Defining Male and Female Act would provide clear legal definitions so that neither the Biden administration nor any future administration can redefine Title IX. We must protect biological women and girls' safety and opportunities, and I urge the House to act swiftly in passing this bill to recognize the fundamental differences between men and women."

The publication also linked to a news release explaining more about the importance of defining "male" and "female" in a legal sense. It says that legally redefining sex to include "gender identity" would nullify the legal right of girls and women to sex-separate sports and scholarships; prohibit restrooms, locker rooms, dorm rooms, prisons, and shelters for victims of sexual assault from being separated by sex; and replace recognition of the objective difference between males and females, mothers and fathers with a subjective "sense of gender."

Mary Miller is currently serving in the U.S. Congress, representing Illinois’ 15th district. She replaced previous U.S Congress member John Shimkus in 2021. Miller graduated from Eastern Illinois University with a BA.

Miller was born in Oak Park, Illinois in 1959. She currently lives in Oakland, has seven children, twenty grandchildren, and continues to run her fourth-generation family farm with her husband.
