Fighting Illini announces promotional schedule for upcoming football season

University of Illinois Athletics has announced the promotional schedule for the 2024 Fighting Illini football season, which will feature a season-long celebration of the 100th Anniversary of Memorial Stadium presented by Toyota.

The Fighting Illini will host seven home games, starting Thursday, Aug. 29 against Eastern Illinois. Following the opener, the team will host six Saturday home games against Kansas (Sept. 7), Central Michigan (Sept. 14), Purdue (Oct. 12), Michigan (Oct. 19), Minnesota (Nov. 2), and Michigan State (Nov. 16).

A Family Fun Zone will be available at every game throughout the season in Grange Grove, offering activities such as bounce houses, face painting, balloon artists, football equipment try-ons, giveaways, posters, and tailgating.

On Thursday, Aug. 29 against Eastern Illinois at 8 p.m., University of Illinois students can participate in Student Night and a Res-Hall Challenge where the residence hall with the highest attendance will receive two hours of access to Memorial Stadium on a separate date. Students living in campus housing can also take postgame photos on the field.

For Greek Recruitment night, "The Panhellenic Council will host a free tailgate in Grange Grove pregame," said an official statement from University Athletics.

On Saturday, Sept. 7 against Kansas at 6 p.m., fans are encouraged to wear orange for "Hail To The Orange Out!" Additionally, Illinois' New Student & Family Experiences will host a FamILLy Weekend tailgate before the game.

Saturday's game on Sept. 14 against Central Michigan at 11 a.m. marks Homecoming week celebrations under the theme "Illinois. Together. Forever." The festivities include events like a parade and pep rally.

The Oct. 12 game against Purdue includes "Celebrate Food and Ag" day with special meat packages available for purchase from The College of ACES Meat Science Lab and farm fresh produce from The College of ACES Sustainable Student Farm.

On Oct. 19 against Michigan, there will be a rededication ceremony and gala to commemorate Memorial Stadium's centennial anniversary.

Minnesota's visit on Nov. 2 coincides with Dads Day and Military Appreciation Day honoring active military personnel who can receive two free tickets to the game.

Finally, Senior Day and First Responders Day will be observed during the Nov. 16 game against Michigan State with special ticket packages available for first responders.
