Jamar Brown appointed to fill vacant District 3 council seat

The City of Champaign has announced the appointment of Jamar Brown to the District 3 City Council seat. Following an application and interview process, the Champaign City Council voted to appoint Brown during the June 18, 2024, Council meeting. He was sworn in and assumed his position that same night.

Brown fills the vacancy left by former Council Member Daniel Iniguez, who resigned on May 14, 2024.

"The City of Champaign congratulates Jamar Brown on his appointment to the District 3 City Council seat," stated a city spokesperson.

Brown's appointment marks a new chapter for District 3 as he steps into his role with immediate effect.
