The Champaign Police Department (CPD) commemorated National Police Week, which took place from May 12 to 18, 2024, with a series of events and ceremonies. The annual Police Memorial and a Historical Dedication were held on May 14, followed by the Police Employee Awards on May 15.

Throughout the week, the department provided opportunities for the Champaign community to delve into CPD's rich history. This included a moment of silence in honor of its three fallen heroes, an opportunity to view historical exhibits at CPD headquarters, and an awards ceremony recognizing officers for their contributions in 2023.

The week's activities concluded with the annual Cop on a Rooftop event in support of Special Olympics on the morning of May 17.

In a statement, Champaign Police expressed gratitude to all elected officials, community members, city employees, family members, and friends who attended the events during the 2024 Police Week.
