The city has announced the launch of the downtown entertainment district's official logo, "The Beat." This logo was unveiled at a Council study session on May 7, 2024, and represents the entire downtown entertainment district. The Beat is set to offer a wide range of entertainers and programs for community members to enjoy, showcasing the vibrancy of downtown.

In preparation for the launch, staff have been organizing events throughout downtown to spread awareness and engage potential collaborators. The Beat is just weeks away from its official kickoff, demonstrating what can be achieved when the city comes together.

Staff members from every department in the city, including the City Manager’s Office, Finance, Fire, Equity & Engagement, Police, IT, Legal, Planning, and Public Works have collaborated to get this pilot project off the ground. A few department highlights include shaping the vision of the district by the City Manager’s Office and coordination with vendors by Public Works staff to complete the structural portion of Market Street.

The Planning Department has developed a live entertainment grant program to enhance downtown performances. The Equity & Engagement staff have led branding efforts for The Beat. Staff from nearly every department in this city have contributed to making this project possible. As The Beat continues to grow and develop, updates will be provided.
