Community Development Specialists Shelby Mammano and Betsy Barclay recently participated in the inaugural National Community Development Association (NCDA) Region V Conference in Columbus, Ohio. The event brought together entitlement cities from Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, Minnesota, Ohio, and Wisconsin for the first time, marking a significant milestone in regional collaboration.
Reflecting on the significance of the conference, it was mentioned that "The Neighborhood Programs division is proud to be a long-time member of NCDA." Additionally, it was highlighted that "Since 1969, NCDA has been a leader in securing federal resources and designing effective and responsive housing and community development programs for local governments."
Membership in the NCDA provides valuable knowledge and skills for community development administrators, benefiting entities like the City of Champaign. The conference served as a platform for Midwest Community Development Professionals to exchange ideas, gain insights, and foster a stronger regional network.
The engagement of Mammano and Barclay in this conference underscores the commitment of the Neighborhood Services Department to staying informed about best practices and innovative approaches in community development. Such initiatives contribute to the ongoing efforts to enhance the quality of life and well-being of residents in Champaign and beyond.
