The Champaign Fire Department swiftly responded to a fire in a single-family home on Joanne Ln. on Thursday, April 11, at 3:02 p.m. The fire was brought under control by the diligent efforts of the fire crews.
According to reports, the occupant of the single-story home was found outside with serious burns when the Fire Department arrived. Firefighters wasted no time in providing medical attention to the injured individual and working to extinguish the flames, which were accompanied by heavy smoke.
The cause of the fire is currently under investigation as authorities work on determining what led to the incident. Fortunately, there were no reported injuries among the firefighters who responded to the scene.
The injured occupant received initial treatment on-site, and arrangements were made for AirLife to transport the victim to the hospital for further medical care. Regrettably, the fire resulted in significant damage to the home and even affected a neighboring property due to the intensity of the blaze.
