Champaign residents should be aware of an upcoming road closure on Fifth Street, stretching from Springfield Avenue to just north of Healey Street. The closure, set to begin on March 13, is necessary for Mayfield Construction to carry out essential sewer and water line connections at 501 S. Fifth Street. The road is expected to reopen by March 19, 2024.
During this period, through traffic will not be allowed in the affected area. However, access to all properties along Fifth Street will be maintained from the south end at Healey Street, ensuring minimal disruption for residents and businesses in the vicinity.
