Village of Pesotum Board of Trustees met Nov. 15.

Here are the minutes provided by the board:

VILLAGE BOARD OF TRUSTEES STUDY SESSION MEETING

1. Call to Order Village President, Joyce Ragle, called the meeting to order at 6:31 p.m.

2. Pledge of Allegiance and Roll Call The Pledge of Allegiance was recited, and roll call taken. Present was Village President, Joyce Ragle, Village Trustees, Dee Ann Hoffman, Jennifer Gumbel-Paeth, Nathan Nierenhausen, and Todd Jamison, Village Trustee and ESDA Coordinator, Rob Russian, Village Maintenance, Rob Wood, Village Treasurer, Melanie Schultz, and Village Clerk, Christine Conner. Absent was Village Building Inspector, Lyle Reed.

3. Presentations/Comments from the General Public Village resident, Steven Beros, asked questions about the Survey process, i.e., how many surveys have been completed, where is the box kept, and who has access to the key? He also had a sample of a bill from American Water for service in Tolono he shared with the Board.

4. Old Business

4.1.   The Board discussed what steps will be taken to reach those property owners who have not responded to the survey regarding the new Sanitary Sewer System and Wastewater Treatment Plant. They will reach out to those property owners.

5. New Business

5.1    The Village will have a Holiday decorating contest with judging on Tuesday, 

December 19, 2023. The winner will be determined and announced at the Village Study Session on Wednesday, December 20, 2023.  The prize will be a $50 gift certificate to the Wayside. 

6. Presentations/Comments from the Board

6.1. Joyce Ragle mentioned a new law that creates paid leave for all workers. It is to provide one (1) hour of paid leave for every forty (40) hours worked. This will apply to our Village Maintenance staff.

6.2. Rob Wood contacted Illinois Department of Transportation for a new Village sign at the east edge of the Village.  A sign is provided at the North and South ends of the Village, but a new one on the east side will cost $320.  The Board discussed the cost, and determined no action will be taken at this time.

6.3. A holiday bonus was discussed for the Village Maintenance Staff. This will be an Agenda item for the December 6, 2023, Village Board of Trustees Meeting.

6.4. Bill Stierwalt has been in touch with Board Members about his land being a potential site for a future sewer treatment plant. Mr. Stierwalt reported he has not had contact from anyone at Fehr Graham Engineering. Mr. Stierwalt was advised that no decision has been made at this time, and any such decision would involve further discussions between the Village and Mr. Stierwalt.

7.1. Next Village Board of Trustees Meeting, Wednesday, December 6, 2023, 6:30 p.m.

7.2. Next Village Board of Trustees Study Session, Wednesday, December 20, 2023, 6:30 p.m.

8. Adjournment

Dee Ann Hoffman made a motion to adjourn. Todd Jamison seconded. Meeting adjourned at 7:09 p.m.
