In a bid to carry out essential pavement patching, AT&T and Western Utility have announced that one lane of Washington Street, between Neil Street and Hickory Street, will be temporarily closed. The closure is scheduled to commence on Wednesday, December 13, and is expected to conclude on Friday, December 15, 2023, subject to weather conditions. During this period, an eastbound lane and a westbound lane will remain open to ensure the smooth flow of traffic. However, motorists should be aware that traffic lanes will be redirected around the construction site.

This lane closure is part of the ongoing efforts by the Public Works Department to enhance the quality and safety of the city's roads. The pavement patching work is crucial for maintaining the infrastructure and ensuring optimal driving conditions for residents and visitors alike.

The affected stretch of Washington Street is a heavily traversed route, and the closure may cause some inconvenience to commuters. However, city authorities have taken measures to minimize disruptions and ensure that traffic continues to move as efficiently as possible.

In light of the upcoming closure, the Public Works Department is urging motorists to plan their journeys accordingly and consider alternative routes if necessary. Additionally, they are advising drivers to exercise caution and adhere to all posted signs and speed limits in the construction area.

The lane closure has also prompted a reminder for pedestrians and cyclists to exercise caution and follow designated detours or crosswalks to ensure their safety.

"We understand that the temporary closure of a lane on Washington Street may cause some inconvenience, but it is a necessary measure to carry out essential pavement patching," stated a representative from the Public Works Department. "We appreciate the cooperation and understanding of the public during this time."

Residents and commuters are encouraged to stay updated on any changes or developments regarding the lane closure through the official City News channels.

As always, the city remains committed to maintaining its infrastructure and ensuring the safety and convenience of its residents. The temporary lane closure on Washington Street is just one of many initiatives aimed at improving the quality of the city's roads.

So, while the closure may cause brief disruptions, it is a crucial step towards maintaining the integrity of the city's transportation network and providing a smooth and safe driving experience for all.
