On Giving Tuesday, November 28, the Champaign Police, along with other area law enforcement agencies and the Eastern Illinois Foodbank, organized a community food drive called "Stuff the Squad." The Champaign PD, Urbana PD, University of Illinois PD, and the Champaign County Sheriff's Office all participated in a friendly competition to collect non-perishable food items.
According to the original article, the Sheriff's Office was able to gather the most food. However, the combined effort of the community and these agencies resulted in an impressive total of over 7,200 pounds of food being collected for those in need. The success of this event would not have been possible without the generous donations from the community.
The "Stuff the Squad" food drive highlights the commitment of the Champaign Police and other law enforcement agencies to serve and support their community. It also showcases the power of collaboration and the positive impact that can be made when different organizations come together for a common cause.
"The 'Stuff the Squad' food drive is a wonderful example of the community and law enforcement working together to make a difference," said a representative from the Champaign Police Department. "We are grateful to everyone who donated food to help those in need. Your generosity will go a long way in providing meals for individuals and families during these challenging times."
The Eastern Illinois Foodbank, a vital organization in the fight against hunger, was instrumental in coordinating this event. Their dedication to addressing food insecurity in the community is commendable, and their partnership with law enforcement agencies further amplifies their impact.
The success of the "Stuff the Squad" food drive not only provides much-needed support to those facing food insecurity, but it also strengthens the bond between law enforcement and the community they serve. By participating in events like this, law enforcement agencies demonstrate their commitment to the well-being of their community beyond their traditional law enforcement duties.
The Champaign Police Department encourages community members to continue supporting initiatives like the "Stuff the Squad" food drive. By coming together and supporting one another, we can make a significant difference in the lives of those who are struggling.
The Champaign Police, along with their fellow law enforcement agencies and the Eastern Illinois Foodbank, extend their heartfelt appreciation to everyone who generously donated to the "Stuff the Squad" food drive. It is through acts of kindness and compassion that we can build a stronger and more resilient community.
