Q3 2021 Recap: 3 parolees from Champaign County convicted of financial crimes or fraud set for release

There were three offenders convicted of financial crimes or fraud living in Champaign County released on parole during the third quarter of 2021, according to Illinois Department of Corrections data obtained by the Chambana Sun.

The data shows two men and one woman were among the parolees. The median age of the parolees sentenced for financial crimes or fraud was 39. The youngest parolee was a 31-year-old woman sentenced in 2021, and the oldest was a 42-year-old man sentenced in 2020.

The offender who had been incarcerated the longest was Shannon J. Sabol. He was convicted in 2020 when he was 40 years old. He is now 42.

Under state law, paroled offenders are still in legal custody of the IDOC, meaning they can be taken back to a correctional center at any time if the state has probable cause or a warrant.
