Champaign City Council welcomes new staffers

Champaign City Council welcomed four new employees during its March 7 meeting, with City Manager Dorothy David introducing to council the new staff members and their duties.

During the meeting, streamed on YouTube, council also approved the purchase of new furniture for the city’s finance, legal and human resources departments, replacing aging equipment and to accommodate growth in some of the departments with their staffing levels.

“It seems like every day we are adding new people or just replacing people who have left the organization. Lots of new fresh faces,” David said. “There’s a positive energy here at the city.”

Dustin Littell will serve as the city’s civil engineer, managing Champaign’s traffic service request program, a role that will enable citizens to make requests for better traffic flow and safety in their communities. Little will also assist with the development of the city bike plan, which has grown in recent years .

Kat Trodder will serve as the city’s zoning administrator, working in the Planning and Zoning Department. Her responsibilities will include zoning and plan design reviews, building permit reviews, and zoning inquiries from residents. During the meeting it was noted she worked with the department in 2017 before working as a planner in Urbana.

Olia Horwick has been hired as an assistant city attorney. She will handle liquor enforcement, planning and development code support, city court, and all of the Freedom of Information Act requests (FOIA).

Tesha White has been hired as an administrative assistant in the city’s IT department where she will be responsible for support functions for the department and customer service. She also will handle tech requests from staff in all departments. She served in the U.S. Army from 2000 to 2008 and held similar positions in other communities.
