Rep. Dan Caulkins (R-Decatur) recently announced his endorsement for Republican Congressional candidate Regan Deering.
“Proud to endorse the BEST candidate for the 13th,” Caulkins wrote on Facebook.
Caulkins shared a link to a Macon County Republican Women's Facebook post supporting Deering.
"So proud of Regan Deering! Regan did a fantastic job in the debate," the organization posted. "She’s obviously the best choice for the 13th! It’s time for MCRW to mobilize, volunteer and get the vote out for Regan.”
According to her campaign website, Deering is a lifelong resident of Illinois. She has served as Capital Campaign Chair for the Northeast Community Fund, and as chair of the Decatur Public School Foundation. She has also been active with Pawprint Ministries and Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central Illinois.
Deering is campaigning to fill the U.S. Representative position for Illinois' 13th District, which is currently being held by Rep. Rodney Davis (D). It opened because of redistricting, which moved Davis to the 15th District.
The 13th Congressional District includes Metro East and Champaign.
Deering will face Democrat Nikki Budzinski in the November general election.
Caulkins was first elected to the Illinois House in 2018. His legislative experience includes serving on the Public Utilities and Prescription Drug Affordability committees. Caulkins resides in Decatur.
