Representative Dan Caulkins won uncontested in a recent June primary election and is heading to an upcoming November general election.

“Last night was a huge night for conservatives across our state,” Caulkins wrote on Facebook.

Ballotpedia wrote Caulkins is going into November uncontested again as there is no Democrat candidate for the 88th District.

“I want to thank all of you for your support last night,” Caulkins wrote on Facebook. “I’m very excited to begin serving the people of the new 88th District.

“I’ve gotten to know many of you over the last few months, and I am committed to standing up and speaking out for our conservative values in Springfield. While I probably will not have an opponent in the general election, that doesn’t mean I won’t be active in helping to elect strong conservative leaders across our state.”

Ballotpedia noted that Caulkins is on various standing committees such as Cybersecurity, Data Analytics, and IT Committee and the Prescription Drug Affordability & Accessibility Committee.

He cheered Senator Darren Bailey's successful campaign for the Republican nomination to the governor's seat.

“My friend, Darren Bailey, has turned the Illinois political establishment on (its) head, both Republican and Democrat over the last few months. Establishment politicians don’t understand how a farmer from Southern Illinois with a funny accent was able to get 58% of the vote last night statewide, with the better-funded establishment candidate getting only 15%, despite outspending Darren 5 to 1.

“Let me let you in on a little secret, Darren is as (authentic) as they come. He spent the last year traveling the state of Illinois, meeting people from all different walks of life, taking the time to go to their communities, visit their places of business, see their struggles and listen to the issues that matter most. I hope you’ve taken the time to get to meet Darren. He is a strong conservative voice that we need as our next Governor. I look forward to introducing you to my friend in the coming months on the campaign trail.”

Vote Smart wrote Caulkins voted against House Bill 370 — it passed 62 to 51 votes. The bill prohibits Illinois from making restrictions on abortions.

In May, Caulkins blasted the Pritzker administration and other legislators for not doing more to handle the looming energy crisis:

“We are facing an immediate manmade crisis as politicians destroy Illinois’ robust energy market and unnecessarily endanger our once reliable and clean and low-cost power,” Caulkins said on his website.
