Analysis: Armstrong administrators rank 352nd in state for average pay

Administrators in Armstrong Township High School District 225 earn an average of $105,764 per year, ranking 352nd out of 864 districts in Illinois, according to a Chambana Sun analysis of the latest Illinois schools report card.

The 2020 average is 26.6 percent higher than in 2016 and 18.6 percent higher than in 2011. District administrators make 5 percent less than the state average of $111,293.

Administrator salaries depend on the district's size, location and resources, as well as the individual's level of experience and education, according to the Illinois State Board of Education report.

The Armstrong School District in Vermilion County enrolled 139 students in 2019-2020. There is an average of 94 students for every administrator, compared to a statewide ratio of 171 to 1.
