Report: Champaign School District spent $16,594 per student in 2019-20

Spending per pupil at Champaign Community Unit School District 4 was up 25.7 percent from five years ago, according to the Chambana Sun analysis of the latest Illinois schools report card district finances.

The Illinois State Board of Education 2019-20 report card showed the Champaign County school district spent $13,200 per pupil in 2015-16. It spent $16,594 in 2019-20.

The district's enrollment rose from 9,951 to 10,137 students over the same period.

Champaign's spending in 2019-20 was 14.5 percent higher than the state average of $14,492.
