Gibson City-Melvin-Sibley Community Unified School District 5 issued the following announcement on Feb. 20.

WHAT IS INTRAMURALS? The Middle School Intramurals program will provide an opportunity for students to develop cheer skills through drills, scrimmage, and fun activities. Consistent attendance will not be required but is definitely encouraged in order to promote development of the skills being taught.
WHO MAY PARTICIPATE? GCMS 5th through 8th graders who wish to gain instruction in order to improve their cheer skills.
WHEN WILL THE PROGRAMS TAKE PLACE? Cheer intramurals will take place from mid-February through early March and then in April, concluding with MS Cheer tryouts for the 2021-22 school year in late-April. More info about tryouts will be given as the program progresses. 6th 7th, and 8th grade sessions will take place at the Middle School and 5th Grade sessions will take place at the Elementary School Gym. Sessions may be either right after school or in the evening. A tentative schedule (subject to change) will be given out during the first week of the program.
EQUIPMENT, ETC.: Participants are asked to dress in gym shorts, a t-shirt, athletic socks, and to be wearing athletic shoes. The locker rooms will be available to anyone who needs to change clothes. All participants will be required to have a mask for activities where physical distancing cannot be maintained. In addition, each participant will need their own water bottle.
RIDES HOME: Please have rides arranged to pick up at the proper end time after each session.
REQUIRED PAPERWORK:
Please turn into the MS Office by Feb. 15 or turn into the coaches on the first day of participation:
1. Insurance waiver form (attached)
2. Proof of insurance (copy of ins. card or letter from ins. company)
3. Middle School Intramurals COVID-19 Consent to Participate Form (attached)
IF YOUR STUDENT HAS ALREADY PARTICIPATED IN A MIDDLE SCHOOL ATHLETIC ACTIVITY THIS YEAR, THEN ALL WE WILL NEED IS THE COVID-19 FORM- THE REST IS ALREADY TAKEN CARE OF.

Mon. Feb. 15 Grades 6 and 7 @ Middle School 5:30-7:00PM
Thu. Feb. 18 Grade 5 @ Elementary School 3:45-5:15PM
Fri. Feb. 19 Grades 6, 7 and 8 @ Middle School 3:45-5:15PM
