Champaign County Board Highway & Transportation Committee met Feb. 7.

Here is the minutes provided by the committee:

I. Call to Order

Committee Chair Cowart called the meeting to order at 9:10 a.m.

II. Roll Call

A verbal roll call was taken and a quorum was declared present.

III. Approval of Agenda/Addendum

MOTION by Mr. Rosales to approve the agenda; seconded by Mr. Clemmons. Upon vote, the MOTION CARRIED unanimously.

IV. Approval of Minutes – November 8, 2019

MOTION by Mr. Rosales to approve the minutes of the November 8, 2019 meeting; seconded by Mr. Clifford. Upon vote, the MOTION CARRIED unanimously.

V. Approval of Closed Minutes – November 8, 2019

MOTION by Mr. Stohr to approve the closed minutes of the November 8, 2019 meeting; seconded by Mr. Rosales. Upon vote, the MOTION CARRIED unanimously.

VIII. County & Township Motor Fuel Tax Claims – November & December 2019 and January 2020

MOTION by Mr. Clemmons to receive and place on file the County and Township Motor Fuel Tax Claims for November & December 2019 and January 2020; seconded by Mr. Rosales. Upon vote, the MOTION CARRIED unanimously.

IX. FY 19 Final Bridge Report

Mr. Cooper reviewed the Final Bridge Report discussing the breakdown of costs for each project that was completed in 2019.

X. Mahomet Township Section #18-15063-00-BR Bid Tab

Mr. Cooper informed the committee the Mahomet Township Section #18-15063-00-BR bridge project was awarded to Big O Services at an award price of $678,547.70

XI. Petition Requesting and Resolution Approving the Appropriation of Funds from the County Bridge Fund Pursuant to 605 ILCS 5/5-501, Ayers Township, #20-01084-00-BR Mr. Cooper discussed the need to replace a culvert in Ayers Township that is in poor condition. The cost to replace the culvert is estimated to be $10,650.00. MOTION by Mr. McGuire to approve the resolution; seconded by Mr. Clifford. Upon vote, the MOTION CARRIED unanimously

XII. Petition Requesting and Resolution Approving the Appropriation of Funds from the County Bridge Fund Pursuant to 605 ILCS 5/5-501, Somer Township, #20-25085-00-BR Mr. Cooper discussed 3 culverts in Somer Township that are in poor condition and need replaced. The estimated cost of replacing all 3 structures is $42,500.00. MOTION by Mr. McGuire to approve the resolution; seconded by Mr. Clifford. Upon vote, the MOTION CARRIED unanimously

XIII. Petition Requesting and Resolution Approving the Appropriation of Funds from the County Bridge Fund Pursuant to 605 ILCS 5/5-501, Sadorus Township, #20-22088-00-BR Mr. Cooper discussed a bridge in Sadorus Township that needs repaired. The bridge is located between sections 26 & 35. The estimated cost of repairing the bridge is $16,000.00. MOTION by Mr. McGuire to approve the resolution; seconded by Mr. Clifford. Upon vote, the MOTION CARRIED unanimously

XIV. Petition Requesting and Resolution Approving the Appropriation of Funds from the County Bridge Fund Pursuant to 605 ILCS 5/5-501, Sadorus Township, #20-22089-00-BR Mr. Cooper discussed a bridge in Sadorus Township that needs repaired. The bridge is located between sections 14 & 23. The estimated cost of repairing the bridge is $15,000.00. MOTION by Mr. McGuire to approve the resolution; seconded by Mr. Clifford. Upon vote, the MOTION CARRIED unanimously

XV. Resolution Appropriating County Bridge Funds for the Rehabilitation of Structure #010-4269 on County Road 00N, Section #20-00087-00-BR Mr. Cooper stated there is a bridge located on the south section line of section 35 in Sadorus Township that is in need of rehabilitation. The estimated cost of rehabilitating the bridge is $75,000.00. MOTION by Mr. Clemmons to approve the resolution; seconded by Mr. Rosales. Upon vote, the MOTION CARRIED unanimously

XVI. Resolution Appropriating County Bridge Funds for the Rehabilitation of Structure #010-0224 on County Road 13, Section #19-00077-00-BR Mr. Cooper stated there is a bridge located on CH 13 over the Little Vermilion Ditch in Ayers Township that needs to be replaced. The estimated cost of replacing the bridge is $400,000.00. MOTION by Mr. Clemmons to approve the resolution; seconded by Mr. Clifford. Upon vote, the MOTION CARRIED unanimously

XVII. Resolution Appropriating Motor Fuel Tax Funds for the Improvement of County Highway 32, Section #20-00086-00-BR Mr. Cooper discussed a bridge located on CH 32 between sections 23 & 24 in Compromise Township. The bridge is in poor condition and needs replaced. MOTION by Mr. Clifford to approve the resolution; seconded by Mr. Clemmons. Upon vote, the MOTION CARRIED unanimously
