Chambana Sun

There were 50 offenders convicted of drug crimes released on parole in Danville during 2019, according to Illinois Department of Corrections data obtained by the Chambana Sun.

The data shows that 41 men and nine women were among the parolees. Of the parolees sentenced for drug crimes, two were veterans, and the median age was 36. The youngest parolee was a 23-year-old man sentenced in 2017, and the oldest was a 63-year-old man sentenced in 2017.

The offender who was incarcerated the longest was Curtis R. Lake. He was convicted of a crime involving drugs in 2010 when he was 51 years old. He is now 61.

Under state law, paroled offenders are still in legal custody of the IDOC, meaning they can be taken back to a correctional center at any time if the state has probable cause or a warrant.
