Champaign home prices rise in the first quarter of 2017

The median sale price of a home sold in the first quarter of 2017 in Champaign rose by $2,975 while total sales decreased by 9.3%, according to BlockShopper.com.

From January through March of 2017, there were 302 homes sold, with a median sale price of $130,875 - a 2.3% increase over the $127,900 median sale price for the same period of the previous year. There were 333 homes sold in Champaign in the first quarter of 2016.

The median sales tax in Champaign for 2017 was $3,362.40. In 2016, the median sales tax was $3,039.80. This marks an increase of 10.6%. The effective property tax rate, using the median property tax and median home sale price as the basis, is 2.6%.
