According to the report, the district expelled or suspended 2,251 students during the year. That equates to 52 percent of the 4,331 students enrolled.
Of the 1,916 in-school suspensions, 1,142 were given to boys and 774 were given to girls, including 1,539 elementary or middle schoolers and 377 high schoolers.
The district reported that most in-school suspensions were given for unspecified reasons. The category includes 1,830 incidents. There were 60 incidents of violence without physical injury. For 1,804 incidents, students were suspended for a day or less.
Of the 335 out-of-school suspensions, 208 were given to boys and 127 were given to girls, including 234 elementary or middle schoolers and 101 high schoolers.
The district reported that most out-of-school suspensions were given for unspecified reasons. The category includes 224 incidents. There were 73 incidents of violence without physical injury. For 160 incidents, students were suspended for a day or less.
