Heritage Community Unit School District 8 students suspended 21 times in a single school year

Heritage Community Unit School District 8 reported 21 suspensions for 2016-17, according to the latest student discipline report by the Illinois State Board of Education.

According to the report, the district expelled or suspended 21 students during the year. That equates to 4.4 percent of the 478 students enrolled.

The district reported that most out-of-school suspensions were given for unspecified reasons. The category includes 19 incidents. There were two incidents of alcohol. For 10 incidents, students were suspended for a day or less.
