Philo Fire Protection District responded to 16 calls in 2017 - 14.3 percent more than the previous year, according to data from the National Fire Incident Reporting System.

The calls in Philo included 14 fires - five structure fires, four vehicle fires and five other fires.

In all, the department saw $140,300 in fire loss - or about $10,021 per fire.

The department also received two false calls.

The Philo Fire Protection District had an annual budget of $121,803 in 2017.
